Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has gone to Mumbai to meet his ailing father, Lalu Prasad.
This is the first time that Tejashwi has gone to Mumbai ever since Lalu is under treatment at Asian Heart Institute. Tejashwi reached Mumbai on Sunday evening and met his father on Monday evening.
Lalu has been in Mumbai for medical check-up from August 6. Earlier, Lalu had spent 13 days in Mumbai, where he has undergone fistula surgery and treatment for several other ailments.
Tejashwi told The Telegraph over phone from Mumbai: "I have not met my father ever since he was undergoing treatment here though I speak to him over the phone enquiring about his health. But I never got an opportunity to visit him. Finally, I have come here to meet my ailing father because all our family members are tensed about his deteriorating health."
This is the second time in the past two months that the former chief minister has gone to Mumbai, as he has been granted provisional bail by Jharkhand High Court for better treatment. He was granted provisional bail for six months on May 11 this year and later, it extended his provisional bail on medical grounds for another six months.
When Lalu's provisional bail was about to get over on August 14, the high court again extended it till August 27 and fixed August 24 as the date to hear the bail petition.
Lalu's elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, had gone to Mumbai along with his wife, Aishwarya Rai, when Lalu had gone there for check-up. Lalu's eldest daughter, Misa Bharti, has also visited him there.
Asked about his conversation with Lalu, Tejashwi said: "He just enquired about all family members in Patna and spoke to mom over the phone. He is getting good medical treatment but he needs more rest. I spoke to the doctors looking after him. The team said they are giving him the best possible treatment."
