Zinedine Zidane might leave Real Madrid at the end of the ongoing La Liga season, and some media reports claim that he has already informed his team. But the Blancos coach cleared the air during a post-match press conference after Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
“How am I going to tell my players that I am going now? It's a lie. I focus on this season. There is a game left and we are going to give everything. I only care what happens in this finale. The rest, we will see at the end of the season,” Zidane was quoted as saying by AFP.
Real beat Bilbao 1-0 in an away game last night, thanks to a close-range finish by Nacho in the 68th minute.
Zizou’s top priority right now is winning the ongoing La Liga season. Real’s title hopes are still alive. They must win their upcoming game versus Villareal and hope for Atletico to go down to Valladolid.
After their win over Bilbao, they’re at number two in the table with 81 points, hot on the heels of leaders and derby rivals Atletico Madrid (83).
Real Madrid have not lost a single game in their last 17 outings. They’ve won 12 and drawn five. And this is the best they have ever performed under Zidane.
