The BCCI is still awaiting the playing conditions for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton even as several members of the contingent assembled at a Mumbai hotel on Wednesday to begin their 14-day quarantine process.
“The final begins on June 18. There’s time and the playing conditions will be made available in a day or two. Generally the playing conditions for ICC events are announced 20-25 days before the start of the match or tournament,” a source told The Telegraph.
The Indian women’s squad, which is scheduled to play a one-off Test followed by three ODIs and three T20Is, is also part of the quarantine process.
Both the Indian squads will fly out together on a chartered flight to London on June 2.
As already reported, the BCCI arranged chartered flights from Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai to bring the players, coaches and support staff to Mumbai.
The rest of the squad members residing in Mumbai, including captain Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma along with Ravi Shastri, will enter the bubble at the team hotel on May 24. The Mumbai group will be in home quarantine till then.
Wriddhiman Saha, KL Rahul and Prasidh Krishna, whose availability was subject to passing the fitness test, will also join on May 24. The players will have to go through another 10-day quarantine on reaching Southampton during which they will be allowed to practice in the latter half.
