Novak Djokovic cruised into the Wimbledon quarter-finals beating Cristian Garin in straight sets. The Serb, who broke early in the first set, eventually crushed the 25-year-old Garin 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 to make it to the last eight of the Grand Slam for the 12th time.
The Serb, who pipped Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the French Open, will meet either Marton Fucsovics or Andrey Rublev in the last eight.
"Confidence levels are very high after winning the French Open. It was one of my biggest wins in the circumstances, two five-setters, two four-setters in the second week. They took a lot out of me but they also gave me wings. The further I go in the tournament, the more comfortable I feel and I look forward to the next challenge," Djokovic said after the match.
Barty through
World no. 1 Ashleigh Barty made it to the Wimbledon quarters for the first time ever as she beat French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets.
Barty, who ended Krejcikova's 15-match unbeaten streak with a 7-5, 6-3 win, said, "It was an incredibly tough match. Barbora has had an unbelievable year and am happy to come through in the end. I found some good stuff when it was important. This is a bit down to the work myself and my team do in practice but this is the fun part to come out and enjoy myself. It can be frustrating at times but it tastes sweeter when you win."
