Electronic line-calling will be used instead of line judges for US Open matches at all courts except the two largest arenas. There also will be three ball people instead of six at courts other than Arthur Ashe Stadium and Louis Armstrong Stadium. Those are among the changes announced by the US Tennis Association as it outlined plans for running its 2020 Grand Slam tournament.
As part of the safety plans, testing will be conducted before travelling to the US and 1-2 times per week at the event along with daily temperature checks.
The Open this year will not include a mixed doubles tournament.
Serena Williams confirmed she will play while Simona Halep does not plan to do so.
The re-scheduled French Open will begin a week later on September 27, organisers confirmed on Wednesday.
