Olympic host city Tokyo entered a new state of emergency on Monday, less than two weeks before the Games begin.
With the pandemic having changed the normal build-up to an Olympics, most members of the Indian contingent will leave for Tokyo on July 17.
Only the sailing team left on Monday, according to a Sports Authority of India source. For the first time, the Indian sailors will be competing in more than one event and also Tokyo will see the first woman Indian sailor — Nethra Kumanan — at the Olympics.
The rowers are set to leave India on July 16 while the rest of the contingent will leave the next day.
However most of the wrestlers, who are training abroad, will travel directly to Tokyo.
