Novak Djokovic’s dream of a Golden Slam is over.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev stormed back from a set and a service break down to beat the world No.1 in the Tokyo Olympics semi-final.

Djokovic had arrived in Tokyo gunning for the Golden Slam — winning all four majors and Olympic gold in a calendar year — after triumphing at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 2021. The US Open takes place later this year.

Steffi Graf is the only Golden Slam winner, achieving the feat in 1988.

Djokovic appeared to be on course for an easy victory on Friday but world No.5 Zverev managed to find another gear, breaking back and reeling off eight games in a row to take the second set and take a commanding lead in the decider.
