Dutee Chand is the latest addition to the Indian contingent headed to Japan for the Tokyo Olympics. The ace sprinter managed to qualify for both 100m and 200m races via the world rankings quota, where 22 slots were up for grabs in the 100m and 15 in the 200m category. Fifty-six athletes are expected to compete in the Olympics women's 100m race.

Dutee had clocked 11.17 seconds in the Indian Grand Prix 4 earlier this week, shattering her own national record.

At the National Inter-State Championships 100m sprint, Dutee finished fourth with a time of 11.62, and was also seen having some discomfort while crossing the finishing line.

Dutee nominated for Khel Ratna

Odisha government on Tuesday nominated ace sprinter Dutee Chand for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, the country's highest sporting honour. Apart from Dutee, the Odisha government also sent five other recommendations to the sports ministry, said an official. "I'm thankful to Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik for nominating my name for the Khel Ratna Award. May your blessing always be upon me," Dutee said on Twitter.

The 25-year-old Dutee, who won a silver each in the 100m and 200m events in the 2018 Asian Games, was conferred with the Arjuna Award last year.
