Days after suffering serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash, Tiger Woods has been transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to a statement from his doctor.
Woods, 45, was moved from Harbor-UCLA Medical Center “for continuing orthopaedic care and recovery,” said its interim CEO and chief medical officer Dr Anish Mahajan. Woods originally was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a level 1 trauma centre, and treated following his accident early Tuesday morning in Rolling Hills Estates, California.
ESPN reported on Thursday that the 34-km transfer between hospitals occurred on Wednesday night.
To respect patient confidentiality, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center’s statement said it will not provide any further information about the patient’s care. “On behalf of our staff, it was an honour to provide orthopaedic care to one of our generation’s greatest athletes,” the statement said.
Woods was driving a Genesis SUV courtesy car by himself en route to a video shoot with one of his sponsors. He is believed to have been running late and travelling at a high speed before striking a road divider, according to authorities.
