Iterating the challenges of bubble life cricketers have been facing since the Covid-19 outbreak, Team India captain Virat Kohli has appealed to the authorities to strike a balance so that world cricket doesn’t lose out on players.
Before the first Test versus England in Nottingham this August, Kohli had stressed the need for periodic breaks for players to stay mentally fresh.
“I understand we’ve lost some time when there was no cricket. But if you lose players by trying to cover that up, then world cricket is not going to be better off.
So there has to be a balance in the future,” Kohli said on Saturday.
“Players also have to be spoken to. In a bio-bubble, you can’t say which player is in what situation. Just because five-six players are laughing around, it doesn’t mean all the 15-16 are feeling the same.
“So it’s important to have communication and give them a period where they can mentally refresh themselves.”
