Ishan Porel, returning from injury, and Vivek Singh secured Bengal an emphatic nine-wicket win versus Odisha in their Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy opener at the JU Salt Lake campus ground on Sunday.
Bengal bowled Odisha out for a modest 113 off 20 overs with pacer Porel being the pick of the bowlers, taking four for 26 in his four overs. The other quicks of the side, Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar, each struck twice.
In reply, opener Vivek hit an unbeaten 35-ball 54 while Suvankar Bal — one of the debutants alongside Kaif Ahmed — also impressed, remaining not out on 34 off 23 balls. Negotiating the Odisha attack with ease, Bengal reached home comfortably with as many as 46 balls to spare.
