Sudip Chatterjee will lead Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, beginning November 4. The left-handed senior batsman has been rewarded for his good form in the Bengal T20 Challenge as well as in the warm-up T20s and one-dayers in Vijayawada.
Experienced campaigners like Anustup Majumdar, who led the side last season, and wicketkeeper-batsman Sreevats Goswami were dropped from the squad that features newcomers like Shakir Habib Gandhi (’keeper-batsman who plays for Tapan Memorial) and Ranjot Singh Khaira (East Bengal batsman).
Wriddhiman Saha, one of India’s wicketkeeeper-batsmen in Tests, has also been included. Bengal play their group-phase matches in Guwahati with their opener versus Chhattisgarh on November 4.
