Sudip Chatterjee returns after a short hiatus in the Bengal squad for their Ranji Trophy quarter final versus Odisha in Cuttack, beginning Thursday.
The squad for the last-eight game, which was announced on Sunday, also features young wicketkeeper-batsman Agniv Pan, while pacer Ishan Porel makes a comeback as well after his stint with India A in New Zealand.
Writtick Chatterjee and Ramesh Prasad were dropped.
A string of low scores had Sudip axed from the squad after he played just two Ranji Trophy matches this season, versus Kerala and Andhra, with scores of one, five not out and 18. The decision to include Sudip does come as a surprise, but lately he has been amongst runs in a couple of CAB League matches.
Pacer Akash Deep, who suffered a groin injury during the Punjab game, was also included although his availability for the quarter final remains uncertain.
“The think tank went for a 16-member squad because Akash Deep is carrying a niggle, making his availability unsure,” a CAB release said.
