Winning all their four matches so far and being the first team to reach the semi-finals of this T20 World Cup, Pakistan are focusing on guarding against complacency, especially after the hard work they have put in over the last few weeks.

Keen to make sure that one bad day doesn’t go on to affect their team morale in the last-four stage, the Pakistanis are constantly saying to themselves that they still have plenty of work to do as their goal, which is yet to win the Cup, has not been achieved yet.

“We all are proud of the fact that we’ve played wonderful cricket so far in this tournament. Everyone responded to the challenges. So as a team, we’re very confident and we support each other.

“We respect each other’s talent and we wish everyone of us to just go out there and do well. That is something very special in this team in this campaign. Yes, we’re playing good cricket, but our goal

is not achieved yet as we still have miles to travel,” senior all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez said on the eve of Pakistan’s final Super 12 game versus Scotland.

“We, as a team, wanted to win this World Cup for the entire nation, and I think everyone is putting their effort into it.”

If Pakistan win comprehensively against Scotland on Sunday, which they are expected to, that will not just ensure they finish as group toppers but also put them in a very good stead going into the semi-final clash. But like some of his teammates said in the recent past, Hafeez too stated that Pakistan are not too worried by who they come across in the last-four stage.

“Well, we never think this way. When it comes to cricket, you need to perform well against whomever you face.

“We believe, as a team, we need to tick all our boxes and follow the process. So whichever opponent comes in our way, we need to prepare accordingly and perform well. We’re prepared for any opposition,” Hafeez explained.
