Javelin throwers Neeraj Chopra and Rohit Yadav are likely to continue practising in Antalya, Turkey, according to Athletics Federation of India president (AFI) Adille Sumariwalla. Neeraj has already qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the ministry of health and family welfare on Monday banned incoming passengers from the European Union, the European Free Trade Association, Turkey and the United Kingdom. The travel ban will come into effect from 5.30pm IST on March 18.

“We have no plans to bring back any athlete at this point in time. What’s the point in exposing them to coronavirus by bringing them back home,” Sumariwalla said.

The first two competitions of the Indian Grand Prix series will be held without any spectators, the competition committee of AFI said. The second competition of the Indian Grand Prix series was scheduled to be held in Sangrur but it will now be held in Patiala.
