Calcutta: Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was elated with the four-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday. Dhoni said the side has soaked in pressure well.
The following are excerpts
Mahendra Singh Dhoni: It was a great performance. There are a few areas where we need to improve on… We need to improve on our death bowling drastically. We soaked in pressure really well.
I think we didn’t get off to a very good start in this game… We were a bit on the slower side, which put a considerable amount of pressure on the middle order. You can’t really afford to play too many dot balls in this format… You want to maintain 100 per cent strike rate.
Virat Kohli: It was our game to lose… We fought hard but we lost the plot in the last six overs. It was a great game of cricket. It was a very close contest… A nail-biting finish. I think the crowd was thoroughly entertained today.
We are relying on one big partnership as of now. I think a few small partnerships will do us a world of good and help us in the next few games.
I think the bowlers did a pretty good job for us. But when Dhoni hits the ball like that in the death overs, you cannot do much.
Ravindra Jadeja: They are just pulling my leg by calling me Sir… We are just having fun. We have a very relaxed environment in the dressing room. We are really enjoying ourselves in the middle.
Before the season started, I was working on my batting… I have really become more confident after scoring two triple-hundreds this season. The wicket was pretty good… It was conducive to batting.
