Manama: Lewis Hamilton took his fourth straight pole of the season for Mercedes at the Bahrain Grand Prix, on Saturday. He was joined on the front row by Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, with Nico Rosberg managing only third for Mercedes. Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen qualified fourth.

Manama: Ferrari have told Kimi Raikkonen that performance and results will decide whether he stays with the team after this season. The Finn is out of contract at the end of the year. Team principal Maurizio Arrivabene said: 'He was telling me about the contract and I said to him 'it depends on your performance... He needs to push and he knows that.'
Phelps fails
Mesa: Michael Phelps suffered his first setback in his return to the pool after he failed to qualify for the 400m freestyle final in Mesa, Arizona, on Friday. He could only manage 17th in the 400m freestyle after a time of 4 minutes 2.67 seconds.India go down
New Delhi: India women's hockey team conceded two goals in the first quarter as they lost 0-3 to the USA in the classification match of the Hawke's Bay Cup, on Saturday. They will now play for the seventh/eighth position on Sunday.

Amsterdam: Jerry van Staa, an amateur player in the Netherlands has been banned for 10 games for biting after Thomas Smedema published a photo of teeth marks left on his back on his Facebook page. Van Staa denied the accusation in a newspaper interview, saying he lost balance after being shoved and fell with his mouth in Smedema's back.
World record
London: Britain's Adam Peaty smashed the world record for the 100m breaststroke at the British swimming championships on Friday. The 20-year-old, who also holds the 50m world record and won European and Commonwealth titles last year, finished in 57.92 seconds, beating the 58.46 mark set by South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh on his way to Olympic gold at London 2012.

London: The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) unveiled the second phase of redevelopment for the Lord's Stadium on Saturday. The project is set to increase the capacity of Lord's to almost 30,000 and its current budget is approaching £80 million.
