Myneni Shines

Ho Chi Minh City: Saketh Myneni dispatched Frenchman Tristan Lamasine 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 to progress to the ATP Vietnam Open singles semi-finals and later combined with compatriot Sanam Singh to beat Italian qualifiers Alessandro Bega and Fabbiano 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 to make the doubles last four too, on Friday.

Dipika loses

New Delhi: Squash player Dipika Pallikal's run in the US Open ended with a 2-3 loss against world No.6 Omneya Abdel Kawy of Egypt in the quarter final at Philadelphia. Dipika went down 11-9, 6-11, 8-11, 11-2, 3-11 to Omneya.

Calcutta: The Indian amateur seniors golf team that boasts of Asian Games Gold medallist and Arjuna Awardee Amit Luthra in the mix finished sixth at the Asia-Pacific Seniors Golf Championship.

Lokomotiv fined

Moscow: Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow have been fined $22,772 and will have to close part of their ground for their next European match, UEFA said on its website on Friday. The club's supporters were found guilty by UEFA of racist behaviour during Lokomotiv's Europa League clash against Albanian side Skenderbeu in the Russian capital on October 1.

Complaint

Zurich: Brazilian club Santos have complained to Fifa about Neymar's transfer to Barcelona in 2013, the soccer's governing body said on Friday. 'We can confirm that we received a claim from the club Santos concerning the player Neymar and the club FC Barcelona. The matter is being investigated,' Fifa said in a statement.

Subroto Cup

New Delhi: The All India Football Federation's under-17 academy side won the Subroto Cup, defeating Little Angels Paradise School, Manipur, 4-1 in the final, here, on Friday.

Manager fined

Calcutta: India team manager Vinod Phadke was fined 40 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of making inappropriate comments about umpire Vineet Kulkarni ahead of the Indore ODI.
