Former national selector and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Sanjay Jagdale is not opposed to captain Virat Kohli’s opinion of having permanent Test centres, but feels venues with proper infrastructure and ability to draw decent turnouts should not be ignored.
“We are having a pretty decent turnout here (at the Holkar Stadium) against a ninth-ranked team without two of their star players.
“You don’t have to go to all small centres, but those venues that have the infrastructure and draw good crowd, can certainly stage Test matches.
“If a small centre has come up, you should be encouraging it. Seeing Indore get such a good turnout in the first couple of days, other venues too might get motivated. “In the end, it’s all about encouraging everything that promotes Test cricket,” Jagdale said
