Sachin Tendulkar is “stable and recovering well” after being admitted to a Mumbai hospital on Thursday night.
Sources told The Telegraph that the former India captain consulted doctors at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre as part of a routine treatment after contracting Covid-19. He got himself admitted as a precautionary measure and convenience of treatment. He is expected to stay in hospital for the next two-three days.
“There’s nothing to worry. He is absolutely fine,” said someone in the know of things.
Tendulkar himself tweeted his medical condition on Friday morning and also greeted his 2011 World Cup-winning teammates on the 10th anniversary.
“Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. I hope to be back home in a few days. Take care and stay safe everyone. Wishing all Indians & my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup win,” the legendary batsman tweeted.

Wishing all Indians & my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cupwin.
Tendulkar was the first of the four former Indian cricketers to return positive tests after playing in the Road Safety World Series T20 tournament featuring India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, England and Bangladesh in Raipur.
The tournament got over on March 21 and Tendulkar announced that he had tested positive less than a week later. After showing “mild symptoms”, Tendulkar quarantined himself at home. He said that no one else in his family had contracted the virus.
Yusuf and Irfan Pathan along with S. Badrinath, who had also taken part in the March 7-21 tournament, also tested positive.
Tendulkar had led the Indian team to victory in the veterans’ tournament where crowds were allowed in the stands.
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram sent Tendulkar a heart-warming message. “Even when you were 16, you battled world’s best bowlers with guts and aplomb... so I am sure you will hit Covid-19 for a SIX! Recover soon master! Would be great if you celebrate India’s World Cup 2011 anniversary with doctors and hospital staff... do send me a pic,” Akram tweeted.
Tendulkar’s former teammate Harbhajan Singh, among others, also took to social media to wish him a speedy recovery.
