Real Kashmir FC (RKFC) won the IFA Shield, defeating George Telegraph 2-1 in the final, at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday.

Lukman Adefemi (38th minute) and Mason Robertson (60th) scored for the winners. Gautam Das found the target for George Telegraph.

It was a hard-fought victory for the David Robertson-coached I-League side.

RKFC’s Nigerian striker Lukman, who scored a hat-trick against Mohammedan Sporting in the semi-final, opened the scoring from a spot-kick.

After the change of ends, George Telegraph came back strongly with substitute Das scoring the equaliser.

But 10 minutes later, RKFC skipper Robertson snatched a 2-1 lead with a header.

George Telegraph did get a chance to came back into the game again as they got a penalty in the 80th minute. But, RKFC goalkeeper Mithun Samanta turned out to be the hero, denying Tanmoy Ghosh to score from the spot-kick.

Samanta was adjudged Man of the Match.“We feel good and will go into I-League on the back of this championship and try to play even better. It feels good to save a decisive penalty in a big final like this,” Samanta said.
