Rani Rampal posted a heartfelt message for her father after receiving the Padma Shri. And it is going viral on social media.
Rampal led India to a fourth-placed finish in hockey in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics, after which she got the Khel Ratna and then followed it up with a Padma Shri, the country's fourth-highest civillian honour.
Earlier today, she took to Twitter to say, "A father is the only person in the world who wants his children to be more successful than him."
The Indian captain has openly acknowledged that she could not afford a hockey stick as a child, but then overcame all odds to become the youngest player in the women's hockey team for the 2010 World Cup. She made it only as 15-year-old.
