Rahul Dravid has agreed to tour Sri Lanka as the head coach of India’s limited-overs squads.
India are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka for three ODIs and as many T20Is from July 13 to 27 with a squad consisting mainly of limited overs specialists and A players. The Test squad comprising 20 players and four standbys will be in England at the time.
The BCCI will make the formal announcement in a few days but sources told The Telegraph that the former India captain has given his consent to be in charge of the support staff in Sri Lanka.
Dravid’s appointment for the Lanka tour was always on the cards in the absence of the regular support staff — Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun and Vikram Rathour.
Dravid, the head of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, had earlier worked with the national A and Under-19 teams. This will be his second stint with the senior national team after working as batting consultant during the England tour in 2014.
Former India pacer Paras Mhambrey will be the bowling coach on the tour.
