Ace shuttler PV Sindhu, still searching for her first title this season, has vowed to redouble her efforts and make the rest of the year remarkable.
The US Open quarter-final loss to China’s Gao Fang Jie has “left a significant emotional impact” on the two-time Olympic medallist, who has looked off-colour since her return from injury layoff.
“It’s disheartening to experience a disappointing defeat after each successful tournament. However, I am determined to channel my emotions into redoubling my efforts and making the remainder of the year truly remarkable,” she wrote on Twitter.
Sindhu was part of India’s bronze medal win at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in February but has missed a few World Tour events. Her best result has been a silver at the Madrid Masters Super 300 event in April.
She reached the Canada Open semis earlier this month before losing to world No. 1 Akane Yamaguchi and then lost to Jie at the US Open, who she had previously defeated in Calgary. “Next time I face you Gao, should be a battle,” Sindhu wrote.
Sindhu will next compete at the Korea Open Super 500 tournament, and along with Kidambi Srikanth, will look for consistency in quest for a maiden title of the season as they open their respective campaigns on Tuesday.
