Lewis Hamilton won the Portuguese Grand Prix, coming from second on the grid to open up his lead at the top of the drivers’ championship to eight points.
The seven-time world champion made two impressive overtaking moves: first, a revenge pass on Max Verstappen, who had just zipped by him cleanly on the outside of Turn 1.
Hamilton then went around the outside of Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas on lap 20 of 66 to take the lead. Hamilton then put his foot down and opened up a gap he never looked like surrendering.
After the one round of pit stops, the Briton came out with a decent lead over Verstappen, who had just passed Bottas for second place.
That is how it finished — Hamilton, Verstappen, Bottas — the top three way out on their own.
