Paris Olympics 2024: Shubhankar Sharma hits 2-under, improves to 25th

Shubhankar Sharma landed two eagles in his second round but gave away four shots in the middle to card 2-under 69 for the day, which placed him 25th in the golf competition here on Friday.

Put alongside his first-round 70, he was 3-under for two day. Gaganjeet Bhullar hit a 2-under 69 and is tied 52nd.

Toor falters

Two-time Asian Games gold-medallist shot-putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor could not come anywhere close to his personal best, finishing a dismal 15th in Group A and failed to qualify for the final.

Parul Chaudhary missed her national record time by one-third of a second but that was enough for an overall 24th position as she and Ankita Dhyani failed to qualify for women’s 5000m final.

Rower Balraj Panwar ended his campaign in the 23rd position in the men’s single sculls event after signing off at fifth in the Final D round.

Judoka Tulika Manncrashed out of the +78kg event after losing to Idalys Ortiz of Cuba in Round I.

Indian sailor Nethra Kumanan is placed 11th after three races of women’s dingy competition. In men’s dingy, Vishnu Sarvanan is at 22nd after the fifth race.
