Novak Djokovic's uncle Goran Djokovic, is of the view that missing two Grand Slams in 2022 may have only prolonged the former's retirement plan, according to media reports.

Speaking to The Pavlovic Today, he said, “The ordeal he went through this year in Australia only extended his career. Instead of maybe retiring from tennis in three or four years, his career has been extended for five, or six years. He is resting his body.”

The Joker as the tennis legend is also called would love to forget the 2022 editions of Grand Slam season in 2022, following a memorable 2021 where he picked three majors to equal Roger Federer's Grand Slam record.

Djokovic was not allowed to enter Australia and US both due to his refusal to get vaccinated.

The Serbian was scheduled to return to court for the Davis Cup, but opted out of the match against Spain due to personal reasons.

He could make a comeback later this month for the Laver Cup in London alongside by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud for Team Europe.
