Novak Djokovic moves into the final round of the 10th Australian Open final after defeating Tommy Paul in straight-sets. The nine-time champion after a rocky first set sailed to victory, winning 7-5 6-1 6-2 against his unseeded American opponent.

Djokovic will face third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals. After committing 24 errors in the first set, the Serbian went on to lock the stakes of the game in his favour. He managed to secure the first set after winning the tie breaker with a phenomenal break of serve.

Although a strong player, Paul crumbled soon after the first set as Djokovic recovered from his initial mistakes and started to take a strong grip over the match. Despite putting up a tough fight and winning a number of rallies, Paul with his impressive vigour was unable to match Djokovic's momentum and aggression in the game.

A controversy was created before the semi-finals as Novak’s father Srdjan Djokovic was seen with fans sporting Russian flags, which were banned from the Melbourne Park very early in the tournament.

Djokovic now has 33 grand-slam finals under his belt. With 27 consecutive wins in Melbourne dating back to 2019, the Serbian holds the biggest winning streak in the competition’s history. He is set to appear in the Australian Open final for the tenth time in his career.

Meanwhile, Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas pounded Russian 18th seed Karen Khachanov 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-3 to launch his country into the title-decider round for the first time.
