Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has raised over £100,000 ($124,410) to ensure children who rely on free school meals are still fed now that schools are closed.

IFA faces CFL worries

The IFA is worried whether players from overseas will be able to play in the CFL Premier Division matches in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Premier Division matches are set to begin towards the end of July, but it’s uncertain whether foreign players will get visas. In such a scenario, the likes of Mohun Bagan and East Bengal may have to do without overseas players in the competition. “We have to discuss the matter with the sports ministry and the clubs,” IFA secretary Joydeep Mukherjee said.

Belgium ‘first’

The Belgian football league has recommended on Thursday that the current season be declared finished early due to the coronavirus pandemic with the present table accepted as final, becoming the first European league to take such a measure. The decision is set to be formally validated at a general assembly on April 15, meaning that Club Brugge would be declared champions.

Vaughan’s IPL plan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels a shortened five-week Indian Premier League leading up to the World T20 in October and November could be a feasible solution “Here’s a thought .. The IPL is played for the 5 weeks leading up to the T20 World Cup in Oz .. all players use it as the great warm up for the WC .. then the WC happens .. So important for the game that the IPL takes place but also the WC,” Vaughan tweeted.
