Manchester United hope Marcus Rashford can shake off the shoulder injury he aggravated against Paris Saint-Germain in time for Saturday’s Premier League game at West Ham United, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said on Friday.

Rashford, who sat out England’s Nations League games last month after injuring his shoulder against Everton, scored for United in Wednesday’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to the French side before being withdrawn in the second half.

“Marcus has been training this morning, not fully, but he’s joined in with the group,” Solskjaer told reporters.

“His shoulder stopped him finishing the game against PSG but he’s getting treatment and hopefully he’ll be part of the squad that travels.”

The game against fifth-placed West Ham will come too soon for left back Luke Shaw, who has missed each of United’s four matches since the international break due to a hamstring injury.

Aguero doubtful

Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero could miss Saturday’s meeting with Fulham as the striker battles for fitness, manager Pep Guardiola said on Friday.

“Aguero is getting better. The good news is that he’s on the pitch with us. We’ll see if he’ll be back soon,” Guardiola said in a news conference.

Guardiola said he expects a tricky test at home to 17th-placed Fulham in what will be the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss’s 700th game as a manager.

“I’ll do 700 more then retire. I never expected it. It’s good to have 700 games with few defeats.

“It’s a great number, with all the people we made incredible things together and hopefully we can do more in the future.”

City’s Phil Foden could also feature in the top flight for the 50th time and Guardiola backed the 20-year-old to reach greater heights.
