Lionel Messi will miss Barcelona’s final La Liga match against Eibar on Saturday after being given permission by Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman to take a holiday.
Barcelona are out of title contention so the match is of little consequence.
However, speculation is rife that Messi may have played his last game for the Catalan side.
The Argentine’s contract expires at the end of next month and there has been no announcement on an extension.
Should Messi not sign a new contract, then his final game for the club would have been last weekend’s dismal 1-2 defeat at Camp Nou to Celta Vigo.
It’s also understandable for Messi to take the break since Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers and Copa America are round the corner.
