The India-Sri Lanka second T20I, scheduled on Tuesday in Colombo, was postponed to Wednesday after all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for Covid-19.
According to a BCCI release, Krunal was found to be positive following the rapid antigen tests conducted ahead of the game in the morning. Eight members of the squad, identified as close contacts of Krunal, were also isolated.
Late in the evening, it was learnt that all eight close contacts of Krunal had tested negative in the RT-PCR tests, but there’s uncertainty over their participation in Wednesday’s game. Another round of tests will be held on Wednesday morning.
India lead the three-match series 1-0, having beaten Sri Lanka by 38 runs on Sunday.
It now remains to be seen if this development goes on to affect the travel plans of Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw, who are with the team in Sri Lanka currently, and are scheduled to join the Indian Test squad in England at the end of this series.
