The star badminton pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty made it to another final on Saturday with a straight-game win over the world No. 2 duo from China at the Korea Open Super 500 tournament.
The Indian shuttlers, world No. 3, prevailed 21-15, 24-22 over China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang here. Saturday was Satwik and Chirag’s first win over the Chinese pair following two earlier defeats.
In the final on Sunday, they will go up against top seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia.
“It feels really good to play another final. Since that first-round loss in Singapore Open (last month), we had in our mind that we need to go out and give 100 per cent. We didn’t want to come out of the court thinking that we didn’t give our best,” Chirag said after the win.
“The shuttles were quite fast here, so our approach was to keep the shuttle low... For tomorrow (Sunday)’s final, we’ll see who we play and decide our strategy accordingly.”
