England batsman Jos Buttler is auctioning the shirt he wore during their World Cup-winning final last year, to raise funds for hospitals battling the Covid-19 pandemic. In a video message posted on Twitter, Buttler said the shirt would be auctioned to raise funds for the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals charity. “To help with their fund-raising effort I’m going to be donating this shirt, which is the shirt I wore in the World Cup final last year, signed by all the players who were members of the squad.”

Bajrang assured of seeding

Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia is assured of a top-four seeding in the 65kg category at next year’s Tokyo Olympics even if he skips the last ranking series tournament, going by the latest world standings. Wrestling’s world governing body UWW announced the fresh rankings which placed Bajrang at number two in the 65kg category. Ravi Dahiya is fourth in the very competitive 57kg category.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has deferred his retirement by “two more years” after the coronavirus lockdown made him realise how much he will miss football when he finishes his career. “I told my wife I’m going to play a little longer,” De Bruyne, 28, said in a live video on his Instagram page. “After this lockdown, I cannot stay at home. I told her I’m going to take two years more.”

Aston Martin will return to Formula One next year following a takeover worth nearly $1 billion. The Racing Point team, which is owned by Lawrence Stroll, will be rebranded in 2021 after the Canadian billionaire completed a takeover of the British-based car manufacturer.
