James Anderson, who dismissed Virat Kohli for a first-ball duck on Day 2 of the Trent Bridge Test, on Friday surpassed Anil Kumble to become the third-highest wicket-taker in Tests.
The 39-year-old seamer finished with four wickets in India’s first innings to take his tally to 621. Anderson had equalled Kumble (619 wickets) on Thursday and went past the legendary spinner by dismissing KL Rahul on Day 3.
Savouring the prized wicket of Kohli, Anderson said the focus is on challenging the fourth stump area of the likes of the India skipper and Cheteshwar Pujara. “Virat’s is such a big wicket,” he said.
