SC East Bengal scored their first goal of the Indian Super League (ISL) on Tuesday. They took the lead but Robbie Fowler’s team still lost 2-3 to Hyderabad FC at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco.
This was SC East Bengal’s fourth defeat in five matches and they remain at the bottom of the table with one point.
Jacques Maghoma put SC East Bengal ahead against the run of play in the 26th minute. Anthony Pilkington played Matti Steinmann through on the flank who squared it for Maghoma. Hyderabad FC goalkeeper Subrata Pal got a hand to the ball, but failed to stop Maghoma’s shot.
Just before half time, Hyderabad got a penalty as Sehnaj Singh fouled Mohammed Yasir. But goalkeeper Debjit Majumder brilliantly saved Aridane Santana’s effort. However, within 39 seconds in the 56th minute, Santana put the ball home twice. Halicharan Narzary scored Hyderabad’s third goal in the 68th minute.
Maghoma netted his second in the 81st minute, but in vain.
