The manner in which his team defeated Delhi Capitals will give them “the confidence to pull off a game from any situation” going into the play-offs, asserted Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli.
A last-ball six by Srikar Bharat (78 not out) took RCB to victory after they needed 15 from the final over on Friday.
“Unbelievable game. We had nothing to lose, but it was a competitive game which is always the case in the IPL.
“This gives us the confidence that we can pull off a game from any situation,” Kohli said after the victory.
RCB will now face a buoyant Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator at Sharjah on Monday. Skipper Kohli knows it well that he and his teammates will have their task cut out in that must-win game.
“We need to sharpen up in the field. Sometimes the boundaries at crucial stages could be critical, so you need to be switched on always,” he said.
“Having said that, we have played well in Sharjah. We have been able to handle the conditions and keep the opposition in check if things have gotten away from us.”

Kohli also lauded the knock of wicketkeeper-batsman Bharat, who emphasised the change in his batting approach. “I was working on trying to know what my strengths and weaknesses are.
“In the 2018-19 domestic season, I was just going in with an intent of attacking every ball, but then I redefined my whole strategy. You just can’t go bang bang every ball, you have to take your time and work out on the angles.
“Also, you have to work on the opponent and on running between the wickets. There are so many different areas which I have been working on over a period of time, and it really paid off at a big platform,” said Bharat on Saturday.
