Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and leg spinner Amit Mishra of Delhi Capitals have been ruled out of the IPL with different injuries.

Bhuvi suffered a thigh muscle injury while bowling the 19th over during their match against Chennai Super Kings, while Mishra sustained a flexor tendon injury in the ring finger of his bowling hand while attempting a return catch against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Bhuvi did try to bowl after the injury and had to stop in his stride twice before the physio decided that he wouldn’t take any further part in the game.

The pacer is expected to be out for at least six to eight weeks and this might rule him out of the tour of Australia, sources told The Telegraph.

The centrally contracted player had missed most of last year owing to a side strain and hamstring injuries. He made a comeback during the IPL after missing the New Zealand tour earlier this year.

India will play a full series against Australia after the IPL, which includes four Tests and limited-overs games.

Bhuvi’s rehabilitation will be monitored by the BCCI’s medical team.

Mishra was the third-highest wicket-taker for the Capitals in this IPL and had featured in their last three matches after Ravichandran Ashwin was sidelined with a shoulder injury. He had taken three wickets at an economy rate of 7.20.

“Mishra will now consult with a specialist over the next few days to determine the most appropriate course of management for this unfortunate injury. Everyone at Delhi Capitals wishes him a speedy recovery,” the franchise said in a statement.
