The best thing about some rumours is that they come with a shelf life.

On Saturday, some news reports had claimed that there was a fight between former Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner and Australian commentator Michael Slater at a bar in the Maldives. But Warner and Slater have now cleared the air, saying the rumour holds no water.

“I don't know where you get these things from. Unless you were here and have got concrete evidence you can't write anything. Nothing happened,” Warner was quoted as saying by foxsports.com.au. Slater also dismissed the claims, and said, “There is absolutely nothing to the rumour mill Buzz. Davie and I are great mates and absolutely zero chance of (having) a fight.”

Slater, however, has recently been in the news for his temper. In a tweet, he had slammed Australian prime minister Scott Morrison for banning citizens from returning home from a Covid-stricken India. He had said, “If our Government cared for the safety of Aussies they would allow us to get home. It's a disgrace!! Blood on your hands PM."

For Warner, IPL 2021 has been an outing to forget. With SRH languishing at the bottom of the table, he lost his captaincy to New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, with Jason Roy being called in as his replacement. The Australian opener had struggled with the bat, amassing only 193 runs in six outings, and failing to middle the ball in most matches.

IPL 2021 was called off by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on May 4, and some cricketers were flown to the Maldives, and are expected to stay there till the travel pause on flights from India to Australia is lifted.
