Punjab Kings head coach Anil Kumble wants his team to look ahead after their convincing win versus Mumbai Indians in Chennai on Friday.
The KL Rahul-led franchise will play their next four matches in Ahmedabad and Kumble urged his players to set their sights on the final at the same venue next month.
“When we go to Ahmedabad, let’s all visualise and work towards coming back to Ahmedabad later,” he said.
“Really proud of the way you guys played versus Mumbai Indians... The intensity you showed on the field, the fielding really sends a message to the opposition... Of course the bowling helps. It was a perfect game, the way we went about bowling on this surface.
“It’s important that we carry this forward, carry the momentum forward in Ahmedabad. Excellent work from all you guys... This will give us a lot of confidence... let’s take one game at a time. Let’s not worry about the previous games. It’s important to look ahead and start afresh,” Kumble said.
He praised 20-year-old leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi who took two important wickets in their nine-wicket victory.
“I worked on his run-up and a few other things. It’s wonderful to see him (bowl so well). He’s always a competitor; you can see that. And to pick up a couple of wickets in an important game likethis is great.”
