Gearing up for a gruelling tour of Australia, the Indian team on Saturday began outdoor training with a light session after the entire contingent tested negative for Covid-19.

Several cricketers who recently competed in the Indian Premier League in the UAE, including Hardik Pandya, Prithvi Shaw and Mohammed Siraj, attended the session at Blacktown International Sports Park inside the Sydney Olympic Park.

Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, pacer Umesh Yadav, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur and Test batting mainstay Cheteshwar Pujara were among those warming up. T. Natarajan, who was impressive in the IPL, and Deepak Chahar also underwent a session of workout.

The Indian team is currently serving a 14-day quarantine period and members have cleared the initial Covid-19 test.

India are scheduled to play three ODIs, three T20Is and a four-Test series on the tour, with the white-ball matches starting from November 27.

Skipper Virat Kohli will miss the last three Tests as he will be on paternity leave during that time.
