The Indian team on Saturday lodged a formal complaint with ICC match referee David Boon after Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were allegedly racially abused by a section of the crowd at the SCG on the third day of third Test.

It couldn’t be confirmed but sources told The Telegraph that there were two other Indian players who were at the receiving end of the abuse, which was reported by the Indian team to the on-field umpires and the match referee at the end of the day’s play.

A group of senior India players and support staff, including captain Ajinkya Rahane, had a lengthy conversation with umpires Paul Wilson and Paul Reiffel before the discussions were taken to the dressing room. It is understood that match referee Boon visited the Indian dressing room after that, followed by lengthy conversations between India officials and security staff outside.

Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley was also part of the discussions.
