ATK Mohun Bagan will begin the Indian Super League (ISL) with a clean slate, it was announced on Monday.
“The FSDL has started modifying the statistics section in the official website to reflect statistics before the 2020-21 season to be attributed to ATK,” Srinjoy Bose, Mohun Bagan secretary and one of the directors of ATK Mohun Bagan, said through a media release. This means ATK Mohun Bagan statistics will start accumulating from ISL VII onwards.
The three stars on the sleeve of the ATK Mohun Bagan jersey “has also been done away with.” The three stars with the ISL logo were attributed to ATK’s title wins in 2014, 2016 and 2019-20 and Bagan fans thought the legacy of their club was being taken for a ride.
Regarding the ISL promotional, which was also not to many fans’ liking, the club said assurances have been given that the changed version would be out very soon. Sourav Ganguly features in that promotional.
The day also saw ATK MB announcing a 27-member squad for ISL VII.
