Winning three of their four matches in IPL 2020 so far, Delhi Capitals are confident they can outperform Royal Challengers Bangalore when the two sides clash at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday.
Like the Capitals, RCB too have won three of their four matches but are behind the former in terms of net run rate.
“It’s going to be a good challenge. They (RCB) have got a pretty good line-up and have some big names. But I think we have got a good team as well and the guys have been training really well. If we just execute our skills and perform the way we have been doing, I’m sure we can out-skill them,” Capitals’ quick Anrich Nortje said on Sunday.
The South African was the Capitals’ standout bowler in extreme batsman-friendly conditions at Sharjah on Saturday versus Kolkata Knight Riders, taking three wickets which played a crucial role in his team’s 18-run victory.
“I just try to keep it basic and not overthink things. Once you think too much about the big or small ground and how easy it is sometimes to hit sixes, you tend to get carried away.
“So just stick to your skills and what you have been training, because that is what’s going to get you over the line,” Nortje said, speaking about his bowling.
For RCB, young Devdutt Padikkal’s consistency at the top is one of their strong points now.
The left-hander, considered the next big thing in Indian cricket, is among the top run-scorers’ list with 174 from four games, hitting three half-centuries.
Captain Virat Kohli’s return to form too is a relief for RCB, while young pacer Navdeep Saini will again be playing a critical role against the likes of Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer.
