Tickets for the six limited-overs matches between India and Australia were all but exhausted on Friday, Cricket Australia said, while authorities expressed optimism that Adelaide could remain the venue of the first Test starting December 17.
Of the tickets sold for the three T20Is and three ODIs in Sydney and Canberra, fewer than 2,000 for one of the matches remained available.
The capacities of Sydney Cricket Ground and Canberra’s Manuka Oval have been reduced by 50 per cent.
The white ball games will be followed by the first Day/Night Test in Adelaide, which went into a six-day lockdown from Wednesday.
South Australia’s chief medical officer Nicola Spurrier said the lockdown has helped “put us in the best position possible to be able to have that cricket match”.
