SC East Bengal will seek their first victory in the Indian Super League (ISL) when they lock horns with the still-unbeaten Hyderabad FC at Tilak Maidan in Vasco on Tuesday.

East Bengal has lost three of the four matches they have played so far in the league. Coach Robbie Fowler, however, wanted to count the positives. “Our spirits are high. The four games we have played, we have actually played okay. But we have been unlucky at times. Various things have happened on the pitch — players getting sent off, players going off with injuries. They are fitter now and we will start seeing a better East Bengal team,” a confident Fowler said on the eve of the match.

“The fight that our boys have shown in the last game is what we are known for. We are a team who have great work ethic. The togetherness of this team is brilliant. When we went down to 10 men, we needed to show this to everyone. Thankfully people now know that we have team spirit and we are a team full of fighters,” the coach said.

Injury of players remains a concern for Fowler. In the last game, goalkeeper Sankar Roy picked up an injury but the coach said he was being monitored closely and would be back in the squad once he is fully fit.
