Wales set up 'final' clash with Poland

Poland shared the scoring duties among four different players plus an own goal to take the pressure off captain Robert Lewandowski, their all-time leading scorer

Substitute Daniel James celebrated his 50th cap with a fine second-half solo goal as Wales trounced Finland 4-1 in Cardiff on Thursday to set up a playoff final with Poland for a place at Euro 2024.

"It could have been five or six," Wales manager Rob Page said. "Dan James was fantastic on his 50th cap."

Poland beat a 10-man Estonia 5-1. Poland shared the scoring duties among four different players plus an own goal to take the pressure off captain Robert Lewandowski, their all-time leading scorer.

A late goal by striker Artem Dovbyk sent Ukraine past Bosnia and Herzegovina with a 2-1 win in their playoff semi-final and into a final against Iceland.

Iceland beat Israel 4-1, with Albert Gudmundsson scoring a hat-trick and Arnor Traustason getting the other goal.

Greece thrashed Kazakhstan 5-0 in their semi-final, booking a place in the final and coming close to a qualification berth after 12 years. Greece struck twice early with Anastasios Bakasetas getting a powerful penalty shot in the ninth minute.
