Bayern Munich’s deadline for Tottenham Hotspur to respond to the German giants’ proposal for Harry Kane came and went even as confusion around the England striker’s fate keeps growing.

Ignoring the deadline, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, according to reports, has instead flown to the US for the weekend. Bayern had given the Premier League club a deadline of midnight on Friday after making a substantial bid for Kane. But Tottenham neither accepted nor rejected the £86m offer.

Though some reports said that Levy has gone to Miami as his family is vacationing there, the Tottenham chairman’s silence has triggered speculation.

Tottenham have been insisting on a considerable fee to give away Kane. It is unclear if Bayern would further increase their offer to rope in the forward.

Only eleven months are left in Kane’s contract with Tottenham. But Bayern’s desperation to get the prolific scorer may well see them make a fresh bid.

Kane is also keen for a clearer picture of his future before the new Premier League season starts. That perhaps adds to the urgency.

That Kane, who is nearer to Alan Shearer’s Premier League goals record, doesn’t want to sign a new contract with Tottenham highlights his willingness to explore opportunities outside England.

Despite the uncertainty, it appears that Bayern are quite confident of getting Kane’s services in the upcoming season. According to the Mirror, Bayern are so sure of the transfer that that they have “already arranged a luxury Bavarian villa for the England striker to live in”.

The said property is in the millionaire’s enclave of Grunwald on the outskirts of
the city.

The report also claimed that Bayern are “in discussions with Kane’s advisers about what number he will wear and have already reserved him a seat in the dressing room”.

Tottenham next face Shakhtar Donetsk in a friendly on Sunday before taking on Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy final on August 8. Their Premier League season opens with the game against Brentford on August 13. Will they take the field without Kane?
