Spain’s World Cup-winning women’s team coach Jorge Vilda has been sacked, the country’s football federation (RFEF) said on Tuesday 10 days after Fifa suspended its president for kissing national team player Jenni Hermoso on the mouth.

A new board formed after the suspension of RFEF president Luis Rubiales by Fifa over the allegedly non-consensual kiss during the World Cup victory celebration two weeks ago has terminated Vilda’s contract.

Support from men

The players of Spain’s men’s national team condemned the “unacceptable behaviour” of Rubiales in a show of support on Monday for the women’s World Cup-winning team.

“We want to reject what we consider unacceptable behaviour on the part of Mr. Rubiales, who has not lived up to the institution he represents,” Álvaro Morata said during a news conference in Madrid.

He had César Azpilicueta, Rodri and Marco Asensio by his side.
