Wolverhampton Wanderers climbed to the eighth place in the Premier League with a 1-0 win over bottom side Sheffield United on Sunday, with Pablo Sarabia’s first-half strike sealing their third win in four matches.
The Spain international struck near the half-hour mark when Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross found him poorly marked in the middle of the box. Sarabia headed past United keeper Ivo Grbic to give the hosts the lead.
Sarabia almost scored his second in the 66th minute when Joao Gomes flicked from the right, but his left-footed attempt on the first touch from outside the box went just wide of the far post.
Sheffield United players Jack Robinson and Vinicius Souza were involved in an on-field clash following a dispute during the team’s game. The teammates pushed each other during a heated exchange which led to VAR reviewing the incident for potential punishment.
Wolves’ first league win at home since December took them to 38 points from 26 matches, a point ahead of Newcastle whom they visit on Saturday. Sheffield United, who have 13 points, host Arsenal on March 4.
